- The procedure for the purchase of a real estate in Montenegro is very simple. For the conclusion of the transaction, all the buyer needs is the passport. The seller needs his personal documents and proof of ownership, the so-called ‘list nepokretnosti’ (Ownership certificate), which is issued by the local administration (municipality) if the seller is an individual. If the seller is a legal entity, they provide company’s registration documents, company stamp and documents which are confirming ownership of the property.
For all the citizens of Russian Federation in Montenegro, visa is not required. If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, all you have to do to go and to register in the police department and this procedure does not require permission. Acquisition of real estate gives the right to stay in Montenegro up to 6 months.
Citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus may be in Montenegro without a visa for up to 30 days. To stay in the country for up to 3 months it is required to apply to the Consulate of Montenegro to obtain a visa.
Foreigners Law, approved by the Montenegrin Parliament in mid-December last year, came into legal force on January 8, 2009.

The first step of registration of Limited Liability Company is a compulsory certification in the Basic Court of three copies of the Constituent Agreement. It is alao obligatory to cerify 3-4 photocopies of passports of founders of the Limited Liability Company, authorized representative and a CEO. A copy of the Memorandum and Articles, as well as photocopies of passports of founders and directors shoud be given in the Central Register of Commercial Court in Podgorica. In the Central Register, on the basis of the submitted documents, filling out application forms and paid registration fees (10€ - Commercial Court, 12 euros – Official Gazette of Montenegro) one can obtain confirmation of the company's registration with the registration number. Each of the types of businesses will be assigned with a reference number. Registration numberof the Limited Liability Company (d.o.o.) begins with the number 5, and the registration number of the company Joint Stock Company (a.d.) begins with number 4.
