Kolasin is Montenegro’s mountain resort: a small town at 954 metres above sea level, at the foot of the Bjelasica massif and next to the Kolasin 1450 and Kolasin 1600 ski centres. The air of the surrounding pine forests earned the town a reputation as a climatic health resort, and the Biogradska Gora national park — one of Europe’s last primeval forests — is a short drive away.
Property here plays a different role than on the coast: apartments and chalets work all year round — skiers in winter, hikers and rafters on the Tara river in summer. With the ski infrastructure still developing, prices remain modest next to Alpine resorts, which makes Kolasin one of the more interesting long-term plays in the country, whether you buy a ready home or a plot to build on.
