Bigova Bay – The Newest Luxury Resort Complex in Montenegro

Montenegro is already home to the popular luxurious development resorts of Porto Montenegro and Lustica Bay, so it should come as no surprise that a new multi-purpose lifestyle resort is nearing completion at Bigova Bay which is close to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kotor, and is around 5km from the main tourism airport of Tivat.

With a total investment sum of around €400m the multi-purpose lifestyle complex will consist of hotels, villas, apartments and commercial facilities which will include a Marina with space for yachts and pleasure boats. Right on the seafront, with gorgeous views across the Bay, the majority of properties on the resort will also take advantage of the South Facing aspect giving them plenty of sunshine throughout the summer days.

It was last November when authorities from Kotor signed the 6.2m contract which started the infrastructure works for the water supply & electrics on the project, and more recently representatives of the Investor met with Government officials to discuss the more intricate details of the project. Present at the meeting were the Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic, Ecology Minister Ana Durovic, Investment Adviser Marija Krgovic, project manager of the development Bojana Jecmenica and Branka Lazarevic, the Bigova Bay Executive Director.

As well as discussing plans for the next year ahead and the further development of the resort, talks are also being held with prestigious commercial operators for the hotels, restaurants and retail sites. The first phase of the project was initially finished in mid-2021 with the introduction of the commercial equipment and construction of the communal infrastructure which was closely followed by the primary infrastructure works as prior mentioned. The final stage will then be to build the villas, hotels and retail outlets to the clients wishes, once they have signed the pre-liminary agreements to lease the spaces available.

This will be one of the biggest Tourist Investment projects in Montenegro with Abazovic expressing his full support for the complex. Al Najjab who is the Investors representative went on to comment in a recent press interview that ‘this is a project that Montenegro can be extremely proud of as it fully fits into the environment meeting strict criteria without violating the cultural heritage of the area.’

• Based on my experience with CMM in Budva, Montenegro, I can say that they are reliable, fast, and they deliver what they promise. They take really good care of their clients. For instance, I was offered a lift from the airport, and they would take me back and forth from Tivat to Budva and Becici to see various properties. • We were introduced to CMM by friends who had already done research on Montenegro and CMM. We purchased our apartment in Dobrota, just outside Kotor, all remotely from South Africa, during the lockdown. Everything was seamless without any problems at all. All the CMM departments work together well from the sales team, head office, legal, interior design and rental department. Every detail was well communicated with an abundance of zoom meetings, videos, emails etc
